Nature's balance of trees and mammals

In the Tao Te Ching, there is a lot to say about the being and the non-beings and their dependence on one another. For this challenge, I found it quite easy to see this in nature because nature is so pure and there is balance going on everywhere. Before there was humanity, there was no chaos in the world. There was simply a balance of all things living in harmony.

I live in a very rural area and I am surrounded by trees. It is very peaceful and it made this challenge easy to do. I observed the trees and tried to understand what it was that they were doing and why they were doing it. Trees naturally release oxygen. It is something that isn't observable by the human eye but that is their role. This is why I am considering it the non being. But why is it releasing oxygen? Mammals need oxygen to breath and live healthy lives. Trees are carrying out this essential task of providing us with life. We, along with all mammals, are the being. In return, humans do what they can to preserve forests and as many trees as possible. We want to see them continue to grow for themselves and for the sake of our well being.
"We join spokes together in a wheel, but it is the center hole that makes the wagon move."
I believe this quote from the Tao Te Ching does a good job describing the relationship between trees and mammals (although it is un-Tao-like to describe anything). Anyway, mammals are the spokes that make up the Earth and society. But it is the tree that provides us with the right supplements to breath and carry on. Without the center hole (trees), we wouldn't be able to continue to grow as a planet.
