Taoism and Yoga are Similar Yet Very Different

Taoism and yoga  have many similarities as well as many differences.  Both yoga and taoism include the balance of things, peace and harmony.  Taoism emphasizes self-government and putting the power in the people.  Taoism includes spontaneity and the balance of opposites.  Taoism focused heavily on nature.  Taoism includes rejecting one's consciousness of their self which is very different from yoga.  Yoga emphasizes a person becoming one with themselves and their surroundings. Yoga's ultimate goal is  for a person to find their true self that is fully pure and in a state of complete oneness.

Although both Taoism and yoga encompass consciousness, I believe the term is used slightly different in the two. Yoga is more focused on self-awareness and Taoism is not.  Taoism includes consciousness in the sense of getting back to nature in an animalistic way.
