I would say that an ice rink is my sacred place. I
began playing hockey when I was about 9, because I wanted
to be more like my dad. Hockey is one of my favorite
activities in life because of what it has done for me
and what it has shown me about my own life.

I learned how to overcome obstacles, think outside the
box, and learn to be the person I am today. I can blow
off steam, get a good workout in, and teach people to play the game. I was a different person before I played,
and I wouldn’t change it for a second!
This is a place where I can be myself, honest,
proud, and happy.
