The Warrior In All of Us

In the movie The Peaceful Warrior, the main character Dan Millman overcame a grave injury with the use of some Yogic thinking. Dan Millman meets his mentor in the movie and starts to learn the way of one mindedness  His mentor forces him to meditate, practice, and destroy his attachments in order to achieve greatness. These things all sound familiar because they are attributes of someone on the Yogic path. Dan Millman's path was not exactly that of a Yogi because he was applying his one mindedness to the rings, as in the Olympic gymnastic type of rings.

There are hundreds of quotes from the movie that reflect the teachings of Yoga, but one especially captivates me. It is ironic that I became captivated by this movie and used its teaching to create my own success because it reflects the lessons we have learned in class almost exactly.
At one point in the movie Dan's mentor says "Take out the Trash Dan, the trash is anything that is keeping you from the only thing that matters, this moment, here and now. And when you truly are in the here and now you'd be amazed at what you can do and how well you can do it." This is the most inspiration part of the movie to me because Dan is finally coming to realize that through the destruction of attachments and understanding true self, success can be achieved in anything you do.
